Wellbeing in York Vision Statement
Our main objective is to provide a base for groups and individuals offering courses, workshops and one-to-one training. We aim to be a wellbeing centre of excellence for individuals and the community of York, promoting all aspects of healthy living; including confidence building, self–help healthcare, healthy living, healthy work practices. We also provide a team for outreach services to other organisations in their own premises. Over the past 12 years, as Briar House Resources, we have hosted many groups offering exercise, art, musical activities, as well as public talks on a wide range of topics, confidence building workshops, films, meetings, mindfulness, local residents meetings, and meditation groups. We have been working with colleagues in other organisations over the past few years to improve mental health in York. We aim to nurture and expand upon these partnerships and have plans for some exciting new projects with new partners. We have been members of Indie York for the past three years and intend to continue to be involved in supporting local small businesses in the area. The new premises at The Raylor Centre is accessible, being on the ground floor but does not yet have hearing loop installed. There is a car park out the front, and bus stops nearby, as well as cycle parking facilities. We have always carried out our business in a green and ethical way, and have long recycled, re-used and reduced our waste as much as possible. The room users are encouraged to recycle with us, and to consider their own carbon footprint. Our priority will be to invite ethical and sustainable businesses to work with us, and on the provision of services to those most excluded and vulnerable in our communities. We are still a CIC, as was Briar House, aiming to raise funds to offer free and subsidised places on courses and one-to-one sessions at Wellbeing in York.
