Francesca King Ceramics was founded in 2016 & focused on textural surfaces in portraiture & tiles. In October 2020 Francesca completed her Masters in Fine Art undertaking a more mindfulness approach to working with clay 1^st prize winner for the Eleanor Worthington International Art Prize 2018. Awarded 2^nd Prize for Grad2Freelancer Programme 2020.

Combining walking and gathering textures with clay to re-describe our environment then linking this with the intimacy of the bare foot. In 2021 the interactive clay experience Feet in Clay was an awarded a York Open Studios bursary. Awarded British Made Directory Clay Therapist of the Year 2023 Prize.

“Feet in Clay”, was developed during my MA studies, which focused on the very special bond between clay and water and ritual in action. Wellbeing In York member, Francesca, says: “Clay has an amazing capacity to sooth the scenes and ground energy. The Feet in Clay experience offers participants a chance to release emotions in a blend of mindfulness art therapy. `

“Feet in Clay” works by encasing the foot into soothing clay-shaped slippers combining this ‘earthing’ practice with deep breath exercises and the principles of Reiki. The result is a unique and individual pair of clay slippers which participants are then invited to decorate and personalise for themselves. These clay slippers are then bisque fire to 1000oC and glazes fire to 1080oC each bespoke piece ready for delivery. Sessions are available to book 1:1 or groups celebrating special occasions for all clay lovers.

All clay is positively charged with a D≠ singing bowl and recycled where necessary.

The therapeutic aspect of Feet in Clay has won 3 awards without which it may never have evolved into the practice it is today. When someone believes in what you do it really makes a difference. Making that transformation happen for clients is what really matters to me.

I aim to offer mindfulness moments that combing deep breath practice, meditation, Feet in Clay, Clay Texture walks and sound therapy. Balance the breath🌸 ground the energy and open the heart.
