Reiki means ‘Universal Life Force Energy’; it originates from Japan and dates back to the teachings of Mikao Usui in the 1920s. Reiki is a gentle form of energy healing which can be given through direct 1to1 treatment, either with the client laying down or seated, you can also send Reiki at a distance to the client, known as ‘distance healing’.
When you receive a Reiki treatment, the energies are channelled through by means of a non-intrusive, gentle touch, or by no touch at all, these healing energies help to restore balance to the mind, body and emotions, by removing blockages from the system and realigning your chakras, restoring balance to the flow of energy throughout the body and assisting in treating physical injuries, emotional trauma and an increase in your overall energy levels, in turn inducing a sense of deep relaxation, reduction in stress and other related health issues and symptoms, anxiety, depression and promoting an overall improvement in your general wellbeing.
Scientific evidence has proven that, when stripped right back, everything is made up of ‘energy’ including that for which we may perceive as being solid matter, for example, if you imagine a leaf, on the tree, when Autumn comes and this leaf ‘dies’, it doesn’t really do so, it just simply changes form, it breaks down, leading to a new cycle from the nutrients and energy within, in most cases, feeding the very tree from which it has fallen.
Reiki taps in to this energy that is not only within us, but all around us, channelling the universal life force energy to wherever it is needed. There are many different forms of Reiki, the original form being ‘Usui Reiki’ as well as, ‘Holy Fire Reiki, Angelic Reiki and Karuna Reiki, to name but a few.
